Embarking on My YouTube Journey

Why I Decided to Start a YouTube Channel

Starting a YouTube channel was a decision driven by multiple layers of passion and aspiration.

The final push came from personal reflections and encouraging feedback from friends and family. Anecdotes of how a simple video clip or a short story about life’s adventures resonated with others made me realize my content’s potential reach and impact. These moments of connection cemented my resolve to embark on this YouTube journey, aiming not only to document my adventures but also to inspire and entertain. As a certified introvert, this won’t be pretty, but it will be fun, informative, and honest.

The Content You Can Expect: Adventures in Existentialism

On this blog and my YouTube channel, I intend to share memories from various stages of my life. These will include insights from my professional journey as a woman in the male-dominated IT field and reflections on the meandering, aimless, existential wanderings of my 20s & 30s. Each story represents a significant chapter in my memory bank.

Living in San Francisco in the 90s was an adventure in itself. The city’s energy, vibrant music scenes, and quirky neighborhoods made every day unique. My Saturday nights were usually spent at Popscene, and the indie music night was held at the Cat Club.

I found a great article from 2021 here reflecting on its fantastic history. The music was always fresh. Shoegaze, Britpop, and the Madchester scene were my favorite forms of music (and still are).

This is a photo of me from that time. I would wake up, get stoned, and do my laundry up the street. I loved staring at the front-load washer and watching the suds go around and around. LOL!

Challenges and Learning Curve

On the personal front, adapting to my new life of early retirement, free of professional responsibilities, is a definite mindset change. It’s like how your legs feel after you have been on a boat all day and finally are back on dry land. Or how your limbs feel after they’ve fallen asleep. All pins and needles and unable to move. Underlying it all is the excitement of feeling FREE. I am genuinely free after a lifetime of work, responsibility, and having to censor myself to remain ‘Professional’ and employed.

I have decided to continue doing what I’ve always done, remaining true to my misanthropic, introverted nature while posting my reviews and insights on the latest tech and electronics (all purchased by me). Additionally, I will provide tips on staying safe on social media and share my adventures and life experiences.

I’ve also realized I can finally revel in my many collections—music magazines, books, DVDs, VHS, and other ephemera I have saved, obsessed over, and curated with a hoarder’s delight over the past 40 years. LOL!

I hope you’ll find these posts fun, informative and engaging!
